Path of Exile is a free-to-play online Action RPG set in the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast. It’s everything you wanted from Diablo 3 and more. It’s designed around a strong barter-based online item economy, deep character customization, competitive PvP and ladder races. The game is completely free and will never be “pay to win”.

Path of Exile is probably one of the most free free-to-play games around. While other solid free-to-play games will occasionally remind you of their cash shops, Path of Exile’s shop is barely there. Almost nothing is held back save for cosmetic items, pets, and some minor account benefits, none of which are necessary to enjoy the action RPG’s bountiful content. It’s simply a full, functional game that just so happens to be free.

The skill tree is somewhat complex. It might help to look up a guide before diving in.

Path of Exile was named 2013 PC Game of the Year by GameSpot and best PC role-playing game of 2013 by IGN.
