7 Days a Skeptic is a FREE point and click adventure game and sequel to the game 5 Days a Stranger

7 Days a Skeptic is part of the “The Chzo Mythos” game series. The Chzo Mythos is the collective title given to a series of four amateur adventure games created by Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw using the Adventure Game Studio development tool. The games are, in order of release and intended play-order, 5 Days a Stranger, 7 Days a Skeptic, Trilby’s Notes and 6 Days a Sacrifice. Chronologically, the games do not follow the same pattern.

Nearly four hundred years have passed since what became known as the DeFoe Manor Incident (during the game 5 Days a Stranger). Mankind has moved on from mother Earth, and the Mephistopheles, a small aging scouting craft, is assigned to map out the Caracus galaxy. Just a few days into the assignment, the crew of the Mephistopheles discover an unknown artifact floating unprotected in deep space: an ancient metal locker. The captain brings it aboard and prepares to lift the lid…

The graphics in 7 Days a Skeptic are still simple, and the sound effects are not that spectacular, with not much background music. But there are nice touches, for instance when you are out on EVA, you can only hear the sound of your own breathing, as in the movie “2001”.

The puzzles in this game are generally much easier than in 5 Days a Stranger, which helps to move the pace of the game along and adds to the build up of suspense. This does mean that hard-core adventure gamers will get through this game in under an hour, however, the pace of the game and its great story line will keep you hooked ‘til the end.

With the same general story line of horror that builds slowly over seven days, 7 Days A Skeptic is definitely worthwhile downloading.
