Tobias and the Dark Sceptres is a FREE indie game that took 13 years to make. Be sure to watch the second video shown below for the story behind why it took so long. the passage of time is evident in the non-standard control scheme (which thankfully can be altered), in the awkward physics and gawky pixel art, but there’s something undeniably powerful to the act of playing someone’s labor of love (or alternatively, the millstone round their neck). Tobias and the Dark Sceptres is more of a puzzle-platformer (with enemies and bosses) than a modern trendy Metroidvania. Each set of levels features a different type of puzzle, concept, battle etc, rather than copy/pasting the same idea over and over again.

Tobias and the Dark Sceptres is what happens when you keep going, determined to one day finish your magnum opus.

Solve ingenious puzzles. Run, jump and swipe through fantastical locations. Fight a huge cast of strange enemies. Battle multi-stage bosses. Play through an epic cinematic story…have fun.
