Description:
Poacher is a FREE 2D platformer, but it’s got a surprising amount of character packed into its pixels. You play as Derek Badger, a Yorkshireman with an outrageous accent and a shotgun. Simply jumping Badger around and turning rabbits into a brief explosion of pus and bile is deliciously fun, and there is a fair bit of puzzling and platforming to get through. Good times.

Don’t let the simple pixel art fool you, there’s a lot more to Poacher than meets the eye!
It’s an exploration platformer where you make your way through a cave system under the Yorkshire dales, blasting possessed rabbits accompanied by a mostly-benevolent spirit.

It’s a long and reasonably full-featured. The basic jumping and shooting can feel a bit clunky, but the levels are well-considered and it’s not ultimately to the game’s detriment. You quickly unlock a second weapon-spirit grenades-that speed up the flow of play, and boss battles also add a bit of variety. As a lightweight, free alternative to Cave Story it holds up reasonably well.
